Questions and constraints.

After talking to my leturure and tutor these are the qustions that I want to look in to.

  • What are the adjectives for my work ?
  • what are your tools for your work ?
  • What do I think when I think of gaming ?

Also I want to look at what constraints I should put on my work.

  • Must some how relate to my work and gaming.
  • Must be simple yet iconic.

The 6th Aotearoa Digital Arts Symposium Workshop Day.

Today I went to the The 6th Aotearoa Digital Arts Symposium workshop day. Met Some Interesting people including Creative Freedom Foundation’s Bronwyn Holloway-Smith and Matthew Holloway. While catching up with friends such as Timothy Greig and Greer .

I just thought  I would say a few words on each of the 2 workshops I went to.

Creative Freedom Foundation workshop: If you wanted to learn about Intellectual Property and Copyright  in New Zealand this was the workshop .  A couple of thing I learnt were.

  • Copyright is not a recent problem e.g. The estate of Margaret Mitchell attempting to suppress The Wind Done Gone for being similar to Gone with the Wind.
  • Business models need to change as well as the law.
  • The The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) looks more at  Infringing Copyright on the internet than Counterfeit goods.
  • To get other people aware join other organisations and explain to them what Intellectual Property means for them.

Thank you Bronwyn and Matthew for the Talk :)

Installing open source software: Brenda Wallace showed how to install and use Ubuntu on our laptops actualy it was quite fun and supising easy.

SO I am looking foward to tomorrow brings.

Say no to Section 92!

New Zealand's new Copyright Law presumes 'Guilt Upon Accusation' and will Cut Off Internet Connections without a trial. Join the black out protest against it!

Year 2 finnished

Hi all

I have finnished all my University work for this year so expect to see some more work and some changes to http://tomrevill.net/

- Tom

Ok, I can’t make it to the meeting today, but I have a list of all the things I need drawn up to make the boss fights work. If they have a * next to them, they need to have at least a few frames of animation.  Work out who needs to draw what, and the priority is to get the things at the top of the list done first.

Hero animations:

  • Attack animation*
  • Block animation*
  • Blinding Light*
  • Prayer*
  • Flight*

Boss fight: Mother

  • The mother* I imagine her being like a puppet, tossed around by unseen strings. She will telekenetically throw objects around,  so an animation is needed for her to do this.
  • 5 objects that you’d find in the house that she can throw around (Painings, cupboards, chairs, cutlery, a cat)
  • Floorboards being ripped up and thrown about, then setting back down again. These need to match the floorboards of the scene.*

Boss fight: Father

  • The park needs to be completed, perhaps add a statue or fountain in the center.
  • An animation of the statue slowly edging towards you, very slight movement*
  • trees sprouting up underneath you
  • roots trying to entangle you?*

Boss fight: Angel

  •    The same animations as the main hero, just with a different darker looking character.

I think we’ll leave the final boss fight for now, I still have to formulate how its going to work… Txt me or email me with what you guys think and what each of you is gonna do. And post all your work that you’ve done on the blog so I can see.
