One day to go!
Crunch time. For next meeting at 9 am, we must all bring files of our work to go on a dvd. Compress images and files so they all will fit.
Sam, before 9 am must have sent Rory coloured images of random people, evil people, and a final scene. + a heal animation
Jason must have a new animation for instructions on actions, including attack, block and heal, and create a backdrop that the flash file will appear on.
Rory must have the boss fight fully coded and all bugs ironed out.
Tom must have a timer worked out, and you loose if the timer runs out. Also, some code to allow audio to play and text to appear before or during the loading screen.

The Master Plan
Tom: sound compression, preloader and health of the girl code.
Sam: Redo the animations he thinks he can do better. Finish cutscene, for next wednesday do sketches for ideas for what the final boss (evil girl with barriers) look like.
Rory: Write up the complete story, get started on the base code, include random mobs and get second boss fight done.
Jason: Work on the openings, work on the final fight scenery (city flying past)
New Meeting.

Extention – 2 weeks
We have decided to go through with out ambitions with The Guardian, and produce as much of our proposal as possible.
Rory – Working on story for now.
Jason – Work on an instruction screen, and cutscenes.
Sam – Working on cutscenes and animations.
Tom – Coding help and all round help, reducing size of flash, by reducing the sounds. Fixing pre-loader.

this is what is happening so far……..
Rory is putting the game together.

We have to put the whole project together this game on Monday and Tuesday.
the very minimum we should have done is the first 2 boss battles.

To do before hand in….
For Saturday:
Rory is working on code, will attempt to get up to the fight with the father, and at least half finish it.
Sam will be working on character sprites, and once that is complete work on badguy animations and cutscenes.
Jason will work on the environments as blogged previously.
Tom will work on getting music and then sounds for actions.
We will meet at 2:00 on Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Jobs for the next few days
Tom: Work on finding music, get samples up on the blog so we can listen and see what we think, work with Jason on evironments.
Jason: Heading up environments, working with Rory and Tom as to what is needed in each space
Sam: Character sprites and animation, if done in time work on cutscenes for intro and outro, and conversations.
Rory: Working on code for boss fights and combat, connecting everyones work together.
Next meeting, 2pm Sunday.
The Guardian progress review
This is how much work we have done.
-Rory started on the code, putting the conversation into a sidescrolling environment, and working out collision detection.

-Sam worked on the basic walk cycle of Guardian. Adding Sprite animations of attacks and other characters.
-Tom has done some visuals for the levels and started looking up free music and researching code.
-Jason has most of the work on the level visuals and is finishing the levels off.

The game opens to a scene of stars dotting the sky. The camera rotates a few seconds, then suddenly the sky starts falling. Soon it becomes much lighter, the stars fade, the sun may enter view for a few seconds. Clouds start to appear, and a moment later the camera moves through them, obscuring vision. When the clouds pass, a city is visible below, London, and the view continues to plummet towards it. The view tips up, taking one last look at the sky, before buildings suddenly pass on either side of the camera, and the ground is hit with a thud.
Everything is black. A girls voice comes from the darkness: Are you all right, Mr. Angel?
The world fades into vision. An angel sits on a street corner, and a girl is bent kneeling down to talk to him. People walk past, but they do not even stop, and they seem almost transparent.
A conversation opens up with the girl. Depending what you choose, you find out that you are an angel, probably a guardian, and that angels that come to earth are here to protect and fight evil. If you question her further, you are lead to either a church or a house that has someone who is very possessed inside.
If you attempt to travel off the end of the street, a dark cloaked figure stops you, throwing you back and laughing at you. If you try multiple times, he says something like “You are persistent, yet as with your task, destined to fail”.
If you choose to travel to the church, you enter and discover that it is derilict. The pews are mostly collapsed, the windows are mostly broken, and the books are rotting away. However, at the very end of the church three stained glass windows remain. One shows an angel with a sword, another shows an angel covering himself with his wings, and the third shows an angel praying, and being showered in light. As you view each of these windows, a prompt appears telling you how to use your sword, shield yourself, and how to pray to restore your health and the health of those around you.
From now, if you die, you return to this church.
If you ignore the church and go directly to the possessed house, you enter to discover a very dark, outlined in red environment. Most of the floorboards are destroyed, the wall is rotten, and debris scatters the floor. As you progress through the building, a voice speaks to you. It tells you that you are weak, that you have no place on this world, that darkness will consume you etc. At the end of the corridor, you meet the possessed person, a woman who is floating, hung in the air like a puppet. You have a brief conversation with her, where she tells you that she shall destroy you etc..
If you have not visited the church and do not have your abilities, then you are defenseless against the demon. You are forced to retreat out of the building, as the floorboards splinter up behind you and damage you if you get to close.
If you have visited the church, you can fight back. At first, the floorboards will fly up and attack you, and you can shield yourself to protect yourself or attack them to get them out of the way. The demon will throw objects at you, if you shield yourself from them they are thrown back at her, and this leaves her open to attack for a few seconds, when you can run in and attack her. When she is on less than half health, she will start pulling up the floorboards as a shield, which damage you if you attack while they’re up. When she is very close to death, she will create a short typhoon of objects, which exhausts her and you can finish her off if you avoid the typhoon.
After defeating her, the demons leave her, and she returns to her normal self.
You start a conversation with the recently de-possessed mother. The daughter runs up to her mother and hugs her. The two together tell you the story of how they and her husband were walking in the park together, when suddenly this horrid evil came out of nowhere. All three tried to run in different directions, but it got both the mother and the father. After that the evil started spreading to many different people, but their evil seems to be the strongest. You decide to either confront the father, or go back to the park to find the source of the evil.
Both paths lead you off the street, onto another street that and the end of which is a park. The mysterious cloaked figure is there, at first you see him surrounded by two recently de-possessed people, and he looks at you for a second before walking off. If you follow him, he’s already gone. At the end of the street, you find the park, and the father is there in the center of it. There are quite a few other demons here also.
You can fight the father, and take him down to about half health, but then he starts doing a block that you can’t get past. You pull back when he starts doing increasingly large attacks afterwards, and the mysterious figure approaches you. He gives you a book, and in it is an image of an angel turning back darkness with blinding light. You now know how to daze people. You enter the fray again, and can now break down this bosses barrier and kill him.
When you de-possess the father, he is very great full to be reunited with his wife, but when you turn to see where the daughter is, you see the mysterious figure with her. He throws back his jacket revealing wings, and flies off with her. You rush after them, until you come to a tube station. At first it had bars over the entrance,but now you can run down into the station below. You fight your way through the crowd, many of whom are possessed, and get on the train just in time. You now must survive on the train, as multiple possessed people attack you, and perhaps a mini-boss, or some environmental hazard. Occasionally the window reveals the other angel and girl flying past.
At the end of the ride, you get out, and confront the angel. You must protect the girl as parts of the station fall down as the angel unleashes large attacks similar to yours. After beating him, the family arrive, and are reunited with their daughter. They’re all happy, but you go and speak to the misguided angel.
He tells you that the girl has the great heart of the darkness in her, and that he was trying to take her away from civilized area to minimize damage when it freed itself. The family say that you must take her to the church, to attempt to purify her before it gets out.
-everything fades to black as they run to the church-
Fades in again to reveal them running to the church. The girl suddenly stumbles, and starts shaking. Out of her, a red light emerges, and flies upwards to the heavens. Change to a cut scene of the pulsing red light bringing the possessed spirits of everyone in the city towards itself, forming a massive creature made of hundreds of possessed humans.
Back to the ground, the misguided angel talks to you, saying that you must fly up there and stop it, that the girl is the key. He shows you how to fly, and then puts the girl in your arms. He says to you: I believe you have the strength to succeed where I failed. God be with you”
You fly up into the sky, where the battle starts.
When you defeat the great darkness, if you completed the game poorly, the darkness falls on the family, crushing them, and the girl dies in the process of destroying the evil. If you completed the game alright, the girl dies in the process of destroying the evil. And if you complete it well, everyone lives, and you and the misguided angel return to heaven.
Meeting summary No.03

For next time:
Rory: Storyline written out in detail, lacking only conversations
Tom:Have the station Train, Train and church done. start coding send Jason your stuff
Jason: Have the street extended and to encorporate the park, as well as houses. I want to fix up the church so it looks more ‘churchy’. Add possesed and non possessed park versions. Work on an aerial boss fight over the housetops of London. Rain? Fog?
Sam: Finish sprite sheet for main character, have reviewed by Rory before meeting on friday, and a look at the storyboard complete. Perhaps collaborate with Jason to create the introduction movie.

The Guardian Update no.2
HI Guys
Just to remind you that project 3 is due on the 10th of October (thats 3 and half weeks left – yikes!).
So we will have to down size our project.
I think we should just make the first chapter.
Also we want all the visuals and the code to be done simultaneously. And wWe will need to leave 1 week for finalizing.
Next meeting in class i want all of us to plan our time out and what we must get done by next time.
It would be good is we could meet twice a week from now on (in class and on Friday – time to be arranged in meeting ).
The thing will get done if every one turns up with with some thing to bring to the meeting.
