The 6th Aotearoa Digital Arts Symposium Workshop Day.
Today I went to the The 6th Aotearoa Digital Arts Symposium workshop day. Met Some Interesting people including Creative Freedom Foundation’s Bronwyn Holloway-Smith and Matthew Holloway. While catching up with friends such as Timothy Greig and Greer .
I just thought I would say a few words on each of the 2 workshops I went to.
Creative Freedom Foundation workshop: If you wanted to learn about Intellectual Property and Copyright in New Zealand this was the workshop . A couple of thing I learnt were.
- Copyright is not a recent problem e.g. The estate of Margaret Mitchell attempting to suppress The Wind Done Gone for being similar to Gone with the Wind.
- Business models need to change as well as the law.
- The The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) looks more at Infringing Copyright on the internet than Counterfeit goods.
- To get other people aware join other organisations and explain to them what Intellectual Property means for them.
Thank you Bronwyn and Matthew for the Talk
Installing open source software: Brenda Wallace showed how to install and use Ubuntu on our laptops actualy it was quite fun and supising easy.
SO I am looking foward to tomorrow brings.
