Response to Remix and Rexabillity by Lev Manovich
In this article Lev talks about how remixing will play a greater role in society. One example of remixing which was interesting is that an animation studio in Amsterdam Orange was opening up all its source material on an extended edition DVD under the Creative Commons. The reason why this interested me was that many corporate media company still have not understood the concepts being behind the web and its philosophies of being an open source arena where anyone can share information. This is one of the reasons why I disapprove of some aspects of Flash. While Flash does improve interactivity in the web it does not allow the end user to take the file apart and see how it works. Overall Lev Manovich talks about how much remixing goes on in the Web 2.0 version of the internet. But I see that we as a community still have a long way to go before we truly have an open source world.
